Shane Peterson at the young age of 39 A lifelong resident of Thief River Falls, MN entered into His eternal reward on Friday, January 7, 2022 at Sanford Medical Center in Fargo, ND with his loving family by his side.
The service to celebrate Shane’s life will be at 3:00 PM on Friday, January 14, 2022 at River of Life Church in Thief River Falls, MN
Visitation will be from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM on Thursday, January 13, 2022 at Johnson Funeral Service in Thief River Falls and on Friday for one hour prior to the service at church.
Shane Mitchell Peterson was born July 3, 1982 in Watford City, ND to Carl and Julie (Egeland) Peterson. He was baptized at Faith Lutheran Church in Bagley, MN and confirmed at Bethany Lutheran Church near Goodridge, MN.
He attended Northrop Elementary, Franklin Middle School and graduated from Lincoln High School in 2000. He attended Northland Community and Technical College in Thief River Falls for two years and graduated from Bemidji State University with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Biology.
While at Northland he was on the golf team and made it to the Nationals in New York both years. He was also on the Bemidji Golf Team.
Shane worked at many Department of Natural Resources jobs in Wisconsin, Wyoming, and the Duluth Minnesota areas before taking a position as a Technician at the Minnesota DNR Wildlife Office in Mentor, MN where he was working at the present time.
In 2011 Shane married Heather Sunsdahl and together they have a son, Camdyn. They later divorced but together continued to lovingly co-parent Cam. He was a devoted father, son and brother. Cam was his life.
Shane enjoyed all sports including softball, hockey, and curling, but golf was his game. He made several hole in ones. He won many prizes at the Million Dollar Hole In One Contest in Thief River Falls. He loved fishing and hunting.
He is survived by his son, Camdyn; parents, Carl and Julie Peterson all of Thief River Falls; sister, Brittany (Francis) Senica of Blaine, MN; and several aunts, uncles, cousins and many good friends.
He was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Orlean and Ramona Egeland; paternal grandparents, Lois and Howard Peterson; uncle, Les Sandland and dear friend, Al Gustafson.
