CHILDREN'S EDUCATION DIRECTOR.

Lillian
Hi, my name is Lillian Marquis. I am proud to say that Thief River Falls has been my home since
I was a baby. My husband, Prestan, grew up in the Goodridge area and has been a part of the
church since he was a little boy. We recently moved out of our apartment into a house and
adopted a mini Australian shepherd named Dee Dee, who turned three months old on
Christmas Day.
Ever since I can remember, I've wanted to teach. As a first-grader, each day I would go home after school and try to teach my sister, who was not even a year old, everything I learned. When my mom started teaching Sunday school, I tagged along to be her helper when my sister
was in kindergarten. It wasn't long before I took over and my mom was just supervising. I taught
Sunday School for ten years before I "retired." In middle school, I started babysitting and
continued to do so into my college years. I loved watching the families grow. During my sophomore year in high school, I joined the "Tutoring Club." That was a very rewarding struggle. The summer after high school, I started coaching soccer for three years and working at
Discovery Daycare Center. I worked with every age from eight weeks old through the first day of sixth grade. It was a gratifying eight years working mainly with two and three year olds. Then, in 2019, I started working as an assistant teacher, at ICCC Head Start with the four and
five-year-olds in the classroom wing here in TRF. Stepping into an actual classroom setting has
been challenging in the most beneficial way possible. In April, I started teaching UpKids and
was honored to step in as director in December!

Children's Education:
"Train "UP" a child in the way he should go and when he is old he will not depart from it"
Proverbs 22:6
We use the color Orange - this represents two powerful forces in a child's life.
Red = the heartbeat and Love of parents
Yellow = the color of the church being a
light in a dark world
When these two forces are combined, the Family and the Church, a child is trained "UP" with the blessings and the protection of their family and their Lord.
